Approximately 400 students helped to design and paint a new painting on canvas that has been hung at the entrance of Jack Harvey elementary.
Last spring, the first stages of painting began, and it was finished in October.
“As each layer of the painting was added, I used masking tape to mask off parts of the design underneath,” said Mr. Krenzer, art teacher. “As each layer of the designs were revealed, it began to look like a woven blanket.”
The painting is titled Woven Together, and represents the multiple levels and layers of learners in the school, as well as the diverse cultures in the community. The lines that cross each other throughout the design give the viewer a sense of weaving, much like a basket or fabric.
